Under Lockdown
I depicted the chaos of a deep-rooted social issue on canvas, exposing the corruption and dysfunction of the Xi’an government. Inspired by Jackson Pollock, I used the dynamic technique of flinging and dripping thinned enamel paint to convey disorder and unrest. The sprawling lines reflect the turmoil of Xi’an under lockdown, while the cool pink and blue divide the composition, symbolizing the civilians and the government. During the lockdown, citizens were deprived of basic necessities and medical care, fueling public discontent. At the same time, the government's pursuit of self-interest eroded its humanity, plunging society into further chaos.
