Under Lockdown
I painted such a chaotic social problem on canvas, revealing the ugliness and corruption of the Xi’an government. The uneasy and disordered were present by flinging and dripping thinned enamel paint onto the canvas, a method inspired by Jackson Pollock. The sprawling lines represent the chaotic state of Xi’an City under lockdown, and the cool pink and blue separate the composition, which symbolizes the civilians and government. The basic supplies and medical services of citizens could not be met during the lockdown, resulting in people’s dissatisfaction with the government. At the same time, the pursuit of personal stake dehumanized the authority, and society became a mess.
